10 Elements Exposition

Birthplace
Jeannette Walls was born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 21st, 1960.

Family Members
Jeannette has one brother Brian Walls, two sisters Maureen Walls and Lori Walls and her mom and dad. Jeannette's family was always "traveling" her parents like to call it, even though they were on the run from every federal agent you could think of. Every one was after the Walls family for either money or to take the Walls children because they weren't in a stable enviornment for living. Jeannette's mom and the children's grandmother always tried to persuade the kids and the mom to live with her and help to get them back on their feet but the grandmother wasn't very fond of Rex Walls the father so he wasn't allowed to come. Jeannette's mom always refused to leave her husband. The family lived the desert and abandoned buildings. Rex Walls was always getting odd jobs just to get his family buy or to buy alcohol. Rex Walls was a very bad drunk and was occasionally very aggressive never with his children but with his wife. He never did remember anything in the morning but still apologized for the broken furniture around the house. The Walls family didn't have the best family besides the mom's parents whom both past away a few months after their differences in moving in. Jeannette's mom owned a lot of land. Rex's parents were living in a broken down camper in the middle of the woods because they believe that the wilderness is the correct way to live.

School Life and Childhood
Jeannette wouldn't describe her child hood as horrible in the beginning because she feel for her parents lies and thought it was an adventure her self, until she started to grow and come to reality and her parents way of living was unacceptable. Her life was difficult, her family was always on the run, there was never a stable diet running threw the house, her parents were stuck in a fantasy dream that they were going to be millionaries one day from their art and from making these huge glass houses. It was all in their but Jeannette believed it to.
On the first day of school for the kids they had to walk 12 miles there and back every day. All of the Walls children loved school but school didn't love them so much the teachers thought they were uneducated when they were actually very smart, so they were put in special services classes to help them. All of the children always got into fights that other kids had started with them because they were different and they didn't fit in. The kids were always getting followed home and ganged up on at school and no one ever did anything about it. When Jeannette reached high school she wanted to join some after school activities she wasn't every athletic or cordinated so she joined the school newspaper and it became her passion. She stayed in the office as long as she could because it was warmer and cozier than being at home. She became very popular for writing the news paper she did it for all 4 years of being there and even signed up for a scholarship in New York for a journalism school. Jeannette would have been the first to go to college in her family. Her sister Lori had already been in New York for awhile so once she left she lived with Lori for awhile while she got money together and soon bought her own place. Things were really looking up for Jeannette and Lori.

Hobbies and Activities
Jeannette's hobbies while growing up were always being outside and going on hikes threw the mountains, swimming in hot tide pools in the desert mountains. She also liked exploring with her brother Brian. She hated being inside. Another thing that was popular in Weltch was to fight and throw rocks at each other and chase each other on your bikes. When Jeannette got older she baby sat and cleaned people's houses for extra money so her and her siblings were able to eat for awhile. The truth of the world was always cut off from the Walls children. She wanted to bring the truth out to people and make sure it was the real truth not the version her dad always told her. Her dream was to move to New York and be something bigger than her parents and work at New York Times as a journalist and have the whole city reading her articles.

The Challeneges Of Being In A High School Sport
Are You Up For The Challenge!?

Every year West Hills Womens Soccer team brings together a new group of girl’s with different athletic ablities, talents and goals to keep up with in this grinding sport. Earlier this week I had interviewed a Junior currently on the team, who had started playing when she was a freshman. The reason I choose Lauren Gudino is because she is a hard working player who had started off knowing no one on the team and showing her coaches and team mates that she was up for the challenge of being in high school sport and facing everything that comes with it. In our interview I will be asking Lauren all about her training, personal life and school to really grasp the life of an athelete and student.

In the everyday life of Lauren Gudino(#5) she has her family, friends, boyfriend and school life that she has to deal with. How does she handle a year round sport, high school and a social life so well? Lets find out.
When did you start playing soccer?
- I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old.
What inspired you to play soccer?
- My dad loved watching the sport, being around it, everything about soccer and my older sister also played it was fun for my whole family.
What do you perfer more high school soccer or club soccer?
- Although I fell in love with high school soccer because it is so fun, Club will always have my heart because I am constantly moving and learning new things to improve myself.
Can you explain you high school tryouts for each year?
- For freshman year I would definatly say it was the worst I didn’t know anyone, there was amazing competion i didn’t feel as good as everyone else, it was the most nerve racking tryout I have ever done.
- Sophmore year I was more confident because I made it my freshman year.
- Junior year I was automatically on the team.
What is your favortite position?
- My favorite position is right defensive back.
Do you plan on playing in college? If so where?
- Yes I do plan on playing in college at UCSB.
How is your relationship with the players?
- Awsome, everyone is super nice and supportive. We are a family and watch out for each other on and off the feild.
What do you want to achieve your senior year?
- I hope to be a captain to bring my team more displine, which will hopefully give us more wins in our season and also so I can go to CIF my senior year. Also another goal for my senior year is to start every game and try and score at least every game.
In your opinion, are you more involved in school when you are in a high school sport?
- I say yes, because before I came into highschool I wanted to ease by under the radar, but when your apart of a sport you feel important and people reconginize you for your athletic ablilties everything you have been working on comes to life and it’s exciting to be seen for what you have been working so hard on and you can’t forget about having outstanding school spirit for sporting events.
In your opinion, do high school sports keep you more focused on school and keep you away from bad crowds?
- Yes, because you are always busy and if you are serious about the sport you reliaze you really don’t have time for messing around. High school sports keep you on your toes with your grades and keep you on top of things, practices teach you to be on time for anything in your life and when you have good grades you can play and it’s better for you future in the long run.
Has soccer ever conflicted with friends, family or your relationship?
- Yes, because it takes up alot of time, but everyone is always supportive and never gives up on me or tells me to quit doing what I love because I can’t hangout sometimes.
Does your team have any before game retiuals?
- Not for high school, but for club we do a prayer and we do chants.

Now that our interview has ended, Lauren Gudino has explained her high school and club career in soccer. She brought us to understand the daily routines that players of any sport go threw every day to play such intence sports. Battling with school, friends, relationships and a year round sport shows us how fun it can be interacting with school events and also has a positive impact on yourself personally and physically, keeping you on your toes with grades and making good decisions. Lauren stated in our interview that “ yes, soccer is a hassle at times but it’s all worth it in the end, the sport keeps me in shape and healthy, it’s hard to have a social life and a relationship but you have to know what you are giving up when joining a year round, time consuming, traveling sport. My friends, boyfriend and family all support me in the end and help me reach my goal to play soccer in college at UCSB”. Even though going threw the struggles of being tired all the time and having barely any social life Lauren has made alot of friends from soccer and never regretted playing, she believes it has made her into an amazing confident, mature person on and off the feild. Lauren Gudino started this challenge as a freshman. Could you handle this challenge?

Coraline Review

Coraline Review
In the movie Coraline directed by Henry Selick is a mysterious, eye opening film with adventurous scenes you could never image right in front of your eyes. Henry has a lot of experience with these kinds of films for example “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “James and the Giant Peach”. All very popular movies, Coraline is just bound to come out just as popular and interesting as previous films. Coraline relates to all of these movies threw the creativity and the wacky scenes that the characters provoke throughout the story. Coraline leaves you on your toes for the whole movie leaving you wanting more information about the story line.

While watching the movie Coraline I was always enthused and a little frightened by the interesting yet creepy other mother and father in the other world that Coraline enters from her formal world. Coraline learns from her experiences from the other world that she needs to appreciate what she has in life even though everything is not perfect. What really caught my eye was the amazing effects shown in the other world and how much different they made it than Coraline’s real world. They made everything so much brighter and happier and gave the garden a unique look, which was Coraline’s face which I thought was very creative of the producers to think of.

All in all, in the movie Coraline, it was a mysterious, fun, and creepy children’s film that is good for the whole family. The best part of the whole movie for me was when she finally started to notice that something was wrong with her so-called “PERFECT” world and she had to figure out how to make everything back to normal and close to portal to other world for good. What Coraline did was find out her strengths with the other mother because the other mother was using Coraline’s weakness’s to try and convince her to stay, that’s when Coraline began to play her game also. The other mother loved to play games. Coraline finally realized once everything was back to normal that she didn’t need a perfect life all she needed was everything back to the way things were. Coraline also realized that her family may not be perfect but they were just what she needed in her life and nothing else to keep her happy and she didn’t need buttons to see the perfect life because it was already right infront of her the whole time. Don't just take it from my point of view, enjoy it for yourself.

Premier Review

In the show Guys With Kids featuring Anthony Anderson as Gary, Jamie- Lynn Sigler as Emily, Jesse Bradford as Chris, Tempestt Bledsoe as Marny, Zach Cregger as Nick and Erin Hayes as Sheila all main characters of the show, these men are placed in a situation were they have to give the life of freedom up for a life of a single father. Growing up for these 3 men is going to be quite the challenge epically without women by their sides.

In the sitcom they try and show the life of a single parent isn't as easy as it looks, epically when being a guy. Guys with kids relates to guys who raise their children on their own without any women figures in their lives leading the way. This consists of a total life change for these 3 men and babies. They have to turn their lives completely upside down and dedicate all their time and effort into their child's life, oh and make it funny at the same time of course.

When watching Guys With Kids, at first I thought it was going to be another show where guys tried to play the roles of women and show everyone guys can raise kids just like women can, but once the show got deeper into it, they really do try and show the struggles that single parents go threw everyday and make hilarious at the same time. What really drew me into the show was how realistic they made everything seem, one moment everything is perfect and all three guys are living the dream and partying every night, doing what they want to do, and suddenly a baby is thrown on them and they have to flip their whole mind set around and turn off party mode and put on the parent pants. The dad's really do try and show how they can mature in such a short period of time and still have fun while having a baby that's what I think makes guys with kids so enjoyable to watch.

One down fall of Guys With Kids is that a lot of the scenes weren't as realistic as they should have been. For example when they took the babies into the bar and put them behind the counter, that's when the humor comes in and its less of the realistic parts of life. Guys With Kids really tries to keep you tuned in with the show by giving you real life examples of how everyday guy parents live. For their premiere I think the show did an excellent job, and I cant wait to see the next episode.
